| Q: Why do students have to study worksheets every day? |
|
A: Working every day is indeed a commitment that requires dedication and perseverance, even if the daily amount of work is quite small. We take this approach because it is more effective for the student to work little than have longer study sessions. Student can remember things better, learn more and progress quickly.

| Q: How do the Kumon programmes relate to children's age? |
|
A: Our primary concern is a child's ability, not their age. Our individualised approach allows children of similar age studying different material, and children of different ages studying the same material. Everything is dependent on what each individual can do, not on how old they are.

| Q: Why are children trained to work by themselves? |
|
A: Success in secondary school requires good study skills and the ability to work independently. Parents and tutors can help, of course, but it is how your child works on his or her own that will really determine the results he or she obtains. Kumon's materials and methodology nurture independent learning skills that will serve them throughout school and beyond.

| Q: When can I expect to see results? |
|
A: We treat every child as an individual, and so progress rates can vary considerably. As education is a long term responsibility, results vary, too. However, each child's study is projected on their record book. Parents are encouraged to discuss with their instructor on their children's progress.

| Q: What are the main things I should do to make Kumon work for my child? |
A: Behind every successful child is a supportive parent and this also applies to Kumon study. The main things you can do are:
- Set a regular time slot and place at home
- ensure that the study area is free of distractions
- encourage your child to tackle problem areas by themselves
- provide plenty of praise and encouragement
- maintain good communication with your Instructor
